& Whitney is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer, Carbon Seal
Design & Analysis , with strong leadership, analytical, and design
skills to support the Components Analytical Group within the
Mechanical Systems Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) Module Center.
What You Will Do: Design and analysis of carbon seals, rolling
element bearings, including validation and project-related activity
for commercial and military P&W gas turbine engines. Team
leadership with a strong emphasis on proficiency development,
employee engagement, technology advancement, and requirements
management. Routine supplier, customer, and P&W discipline
interaction to perform and manage design, analysis, validation, and
production of new and legacy bearing and seal-related components.
Failure mode investigation and analysis using P&W root cause
and corrective action methods and tools. Field support with
customers and suppliers involving new designs, rig testing, and
investigations. Continuous improvement of engineering standard
work, including development of tools to support new technologies
and advance analytical substantiation, and regular involvement and
contributions to other P&W process improvement efforts. Mentor
and train engineers using best practices related to bearing and
seal design and analysis. Routine presentation of design and
analytical results to the customer and executive management. Travel
Requirements: 5% (Domestic and International). Qualifications You
Must Have: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of
relevant experience, or an Advanced degree in Engineering and 5
years of relevant experience. Relevant experience includes
Engineering experience in Aerospace Design or Analysis. U.S.
Citizen - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are
authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer: Advanced degrees in Mechanical,
Aerospace, or Systems Engineering. Aerospace industry experience
involving gas turbine engine bearings and seals design, analysis,
and testing. Ability to effectively lead, communicate, influence,
and coordinate across teams in strategic projects and initiatives.
Organizational and project management experience; PMP
certification. Continuous improvement experience, and/or LEAN,
CORE, ACE, Six-Sigma training. Willingness to mentor and provide
technical guidance to the team, including junior engineers.
Experience with NX, MATLAB, ANSYS, and/or Python. The ability to
obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance or
an a ctive and transferable U.S. government-issued security

Externals, & Nacelles (MSEN) : The Mechanical Systems, Externals,
and Nacelles Engineering organization is responsible for the
design, development, and in-service support of power transmission
systems, bearing compartment and rotor support design and analysis,
oil and thermal management systems, engine externals packaging and
architecture, as well as nacelles for commercial and military
engine models. Technical disciplines include Project Engineering,
Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, System
Modeling, Mechanical Design analysis for bearings, gears, and
seals, and fluid-thermal modeling of associated components and

remote. The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500
USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate
representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several
