In MITRE's Electronic System Development and Embedded Security department, we apply this principle as we dig deep into hard problems to find innovative, practical ways to solve tough challenges for a variety of government sponsors across a range of technical applications.We are currently seeking experienced candidates to grow our team, specifically those with experience implementing embedded software on SoC or other embedded platforms. Candidates will have experience leading teams and architecting complex embedded systems for signal processing applications.As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to design and implement technical solutions for a wide range of challenges currently faced by our government sponsors. We specialize in rapid prototyping of advanced sensor, communication, and navigation systems on real-time embedded platforms. As an applied research organization, we focus on capability development and demonstration. Our world class labs provide a canvas for our team to conduct hands-on research and develop tangible solutions to support our military leaders and reinforce our nation's defense. Apply for this position!Responsibilities include:This position provides an exciting opportunity to design and prototype state of the art embedded systems using commercial and custom platforms. Key opportunities include:

  • Working on cross-disciplinary teams of similarly bright and motivated engineers on projects of national importance
  • Real-time communication, navigation, and sensor systems leveraging state of the art FPGA & SoC technology and cutting-edge SDR platforms
  • Advanced architectures for high throughput signal processing
  • Low size, weight, power and cost (SWaP-C), highly integrated custom platforms

  • Opportunities to build on skills and work on a diverse range of projectsRequired Qualifications:
    • BS (or higher) in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field and 8+ years of related experience
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance which requires US citizenship
    • Technical, task leadership experience
    • Demonstrated ability to architect complex embedded systems
    • Experience defining and encouraging best practices and design methods
    • Demonstrated engagement across multidisciplinary teams to define requirements and set technical direction of software development efforts
    • Willingness/passion for mentoring and developing junior engineers
    • Strong understanding of embedded systems, hardware design, and signal processing concepts
    • Expertise in object-oriented programming and experience with common languages such as Python, C++, C, etc.
    • Complete software development skillset including design, implementation, testing, documentation, and debugging
    • Understanding and experience with low level processor architectures, operating system design, and hardware interfacing
    • Experience with real time operating systems
    • Experience with POSIX interfaces
    • Experience with Linux/BSD user and kernel environments
    • Experience with custom hardware architectures, board bring-up, low-level system debugging
    • Experience with commercial wired and wireless networking protocols
    • Strong development practices including design and code reviews, testing and regression, revision control, and user documentationPreferred Qualifications:
      • M.S. or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
      • The candidate should have a blend of technical and leadership skills
        • Experience with signal processing implementations
        • Experience with communication, RADAR, positioning/navigation systems
