Physical Therapy Assistant Location: Lawrence, MA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,075 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant Profession: Rehabilitation Therapy Specialty: Physical Therapy Assistant Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Physical Therapy Assistant License required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Must-Have: - Associate degree required - Prior experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred Description: The Physical Therapy Assistant partners with residents and other care providers to provide physical therapy services. The goal is to maximize residents' functional abilities and independence. Essential duties and responsibilities include supporting and promoting the mission and values of the organization. Therapeutic procedures are performed under the order of a physician or healthcare provider. Procedures follow evaluation by the supervising therapist while observing precautions, indications, and contraindications. Treatment plans are followed according to department protocols, ensuring inclusion of functional long- and short-term goals. Frequency, duration of services, and therapeutic modalities to be used are outlined in the treatment plan. Input from the resident and primary caregivers regarding the therapeutic plan of care is sought and incorporated into treatment sessions. Problems, questions, or status changes are brought to the evaluating therapist immediately. Attendance is required at all pertinent team meetings. Monitoring of treatment effects is essential, along with progressing the treatment program towards functional goals. Modifications to the treatment plan are made as necessary after consultation with the evaluating therapist. All therapeutic interactions with the resident are documented per department procedures on a timely basis. Documentation must be accessible to others on the care team and residents when appropriate. Appropriate assistive devices for residents are recommended and obtained, with instructions provided for their use. Education is provided to residents or caregivers, and the results of teaching are documented. Understanding and compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and other reimbursement regulations are necessary. Active assistance with the development of new programs and services in Rehabilitation is expected. Responsibility for determining learning needs and seeking out opportunities for education is vital. Department cleanliness and maintenance are ensured by routinely keeping office and clinical areas clean and neat. Assistance with routine equipment and space cleaning is expected. Compliance with all infection control procedures is mandatory. Maintaining required licenses, certifications, and competencies is essential. Completion of annual compliance courses on time is required. Other duties consistent with this role may be assigned. Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills are necessary. The ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team is crucial. Compassionate and resident-centered care is the focus of this role. The ability to speak, read, write, and understand written instructions in English is essential. Candidates must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks associated with this position. Tasks involve sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; above this weight requires a two-person lift. Lifting and carrying frequently up to 20 pounds is expected.
