Location Detail: 79 Jefferson St HH Bliss Wing (10064) Shift
Detail: 2-8's, 2-12 hour shifts. Combination days/evenings with
rotation to nights as needed. Every 3rd weekend (calls and/or

insurance, travel and more! Qualifications The Surgical
Technologist provides service and support before, during, and after
surgical procedures. Ensures the presence and proper arrangement of
surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room to each
operation; assists the surgeon during the operation as allowed by
professional and legal standards; and assists with cleaning
operating room after the operation ensuring proper routing of
equipment, and used material. Reports to Manager. The Core
Operating Room department is made up of approximately 80 highly
trained and skilled staff members we collaborate in an acute and
fast paced surgical environment. With specialties including
general, gynecology, urology, plastic, bariatrics, robotics,
thoracics, trauma, and transplant, our team thrives in our variety
and complexity of surgical cases. This environment also affords
each of us as individuals to function as integral members of a
multidisciplinary team of professionals including surgeons,
anesthesiologists, and assistive personnel to provide the highest
quality of medical and surgical care in our region. With a
demanding volume of 60-80 surgical cases per day, we are
responsible for patients who are seeking the highest level of care
from a facility with cutting edge technology and procedures. A
Level I Trauma Center, Hartford Hospital is one of the largest and

Qualifications - Completion of a Commission on Accreditation of
Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Surgical Technology
Program. - Must be certified through the National Board of Surgical
Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) or able to obtain NBSTA
certification within one year of employment. - Maintenance of CPR,
BLS validation and attendance of annual Validation Day required. -
Knowledge of various surgical procedures with the ability to
anticipate the needs of the surgeon and to recognize the problems
encountered by the surgeon. - Knowledge of name and function of
surgical equipment and instrumentation required. - Excellent
interpersonal/communication skills. - Strict adherence to policies
and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field required. -
Knowledge and practice of basic care and patient safety concepts. -
Application of the principles of asepsis in a manner that provides
optimal patient care. - Knowledge of OR emergency situations.
