the Position Job Title: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery License:
Current nursing license Certifications: BLS, NRP, NH license or
compact Must-Have: Experienced with Epic charting system Experience
with multiple patient demographics Description: This position
requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
Travelers must have prior travel experience. The unit does not
accept first-time travelers unless they have 2 to 5 years of
experience. Floating will only be required to units within the
division. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. The
staffing ratios are 1 or 2 for labor patients and 1:3 for couplets.
The unit includes outpatient triage beds, labor, delivery,
recovery, and postpartum rooms. The care team consists of midwives,
OB hospitalists, and pediatric hospitalists. Staffing follows
established guidelines to ensure optimal patient care. Special
procedures include comprehensive nursing care during ante-, intra-,
and postpartum periods. The RN is responsible for patient
assessment, education, and coordination of care. Competency in
handling high-risk deliveries is expected. The nurse will use
various equipment and technology to support patient care.
Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is imperative for
effective patient outcomes. This role requires flexibility in
scheduling and willingness to assist with clinical needs as
necessary. Knowledge of maternal and neonatal resuscitation is
essential. Experience in managing Pitocin induction patients and
couplet care is advantageous. The RN must demonstrate proficiency
in documentation and communication. Effective pain management
strategies, including the use of anesthesia options, are required.
The role emphasizes education and support for new parents,
including breastfeeding guidance. Maintaining safety and infection
control protocols is a priority. Continual professional development
and staying current with best practices in maternal health are
