Whitney Academy, Inc. is a nationally recognized residential treatment center with sites in Freetown, Assonet and Dighton Massachusetts. Whitney Academy serves adolescent boys who are cognitively impaired, have psychiatric diagnoses and histories of sexualized behavioral issues. Whitney Academy is looking for a Recreational Therapist who will be responsible for planning, directing and implementing activity therapy programs.*Responsibilities include: ** Plan, organize, schedule and evaluate Therapeutic Recreation activities to achieve goals and to develop positive social skills, which may include: athletics, creative arts, music, drama, outdoor education and community based activities* Responsible for the development of new activities, under the supervision of the Director Residential Services* Reinforces the Recreation Therapy and Physical Education objectives for the students at Whitney Academy* Provide supervision of students both on and off campus* Complete written documentation as required* Must display competence in, and maintain certification in, Basic First Aid, CPR, as well as dispensing of medication through the Whitney Academy Medication Certification Program* Lifeguard certification is required and to be maintained* Motivate students to participate in Therapeutic Recreation Activities* Be an integral part of the Treatment Team and attend clinical and other required team meetings* Take advantage of and participate in provided trainings, external and internal to increase knowledge base and ability to provide state of the art services to students*Requirements: ** *Must be a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or currently in the process of obtaining national certification** Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field required* Master's degree preferred* Previous experience in recreation in a school/ residential setting is preferred* Demonstrated knowledge and skills in Therapeutic Recreation principles, techniques and modalities* Effective communication skills including the ability to establish harmonious relationships and work within a team setting* Proven ability to plan and design Therapeutic Recreation activities and services* Ability to lead groups, counsel and motivate students* Skilled in maintaining records and preparing reports*Benefits: ** *$4000.00 SIGN-ON BONUS!** Competitive salary, commensurate with degree, licensure status and experience* 100% Paid Medical and Dental* 100% Paid Life and Disability Insurance* Annual Merit Increases* 2 Weeks Paid Vacation Weeks Per Year to Start* 11 Paid Holidays* 403(b) Plan* Free Gym Membership* Professional Development support* Tuition Assistance after One Year of Employment* A wonderful opportunity for Personal & Professional Growth serving a unique and rewarding student population* $2100.00 Referral Bonus*Interested parties please Call, Email or Mail resumes to: *Call: 1(508) 763-2202 Ext.329The Whitney Academy, Inc.Attn: RecruitmentP.O.
