Job Description:
The Clinical Dietitian performs/supervises services in a
designated area according to the policies, procedures, philosophy,
and objectives of the department and hospital. Works cooperatively
within department and other services to create a system of quality
health care.Consistently meets the standards of the Nutrition Care
Plan Guidelines for screening patients' charts and leveling care
plan.Demonstrates the ability to accurately assess patient's needs
using organizational standards of care/practice
guidelines.Consistently check diet orders received to those in the
medical record and notifies nursing promptly when discrepancies
exist.Develops interventions to maintain or improve nutritional
status.Accurately determines macronutrient and fluid needs for
nutrition support (parenteral and enteral) and assesses and
reassesses the adequacy and tolerance of the formulaIdentifies and
educates on food-drug interactions, and makes necessary therapeutic
changes to prevent interactions.Accurately calculates therapeutic
diets with consideration to patient's religious, cultural, social
and economic circumstances and preferences.Documents in the medical
record using Nutrition Assessment forms and DARP notes for clear,
concise communication of nutritional care.Monitors nutritional
problems such as chewing and swallowing, patients with poor
appetite or PO intake, and those patients in hypermetabolic
states.Performs and documents diet instructions for all modified
diets, using approved instructional materials and
methods.Coordinates and develops educational material and submits
to the Chief Clinical Dietitian for approval.Conducts clinical and
departmental inservices as assigned.Productivity sheets are updated
daily and submitted monthly.Completes one test tray monthly and
follows up accordingly with appropriate staff.Actively participates
in weekly patient continuity of care rounds.Completes Performance
Improvement activities and submits monthly.Maintains current
registration with the American Dietetic Association and maintains
Professional Development Portfolio Guide.Maintains current
registration with the American Dietetic Association and maintains
Professional Development Portfolio Guide.QualificationsLicense
Dietitian in the state of MassachusettsRegistered Dietitian2 3
