CONCEPTUnder the direction of the Senior Director of Operations,
the Associate Director of Facilities is responsible for overseeing
all facilities operations for the Boston Center for the Arts (BCA).
The Associate Director of Facilities will oversee facility
infrastructure, building systems and services, safety and security
programs, building maintenance and modifications, management
control systems, operating policy and procedures and facility. The
Associate Director of Facilities is tasked with directing routine
maintenance, delegating and responding to emergencies, managing
risk, managing BCA maintenance technicians, managing contractors,
and conducting site inspections. The Associate Director of
Facilities collaborates to develop and implement all site policies,
procedures, programs, and systems. This position works with the
Senior Director of Operations to develop long and short-range
maintenance planning. This individual must show maturity,
leadership, and an ability to effectively communicate and follow
the mission of BCA and the policies of BCA Leadership.DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIESThe duties of this position include, but are not
limited to, the following:
- Provide oversight of facility infrastructure, building systems
and services, safety and security programs, building maintenance
and modifications, management control systems, operating policy and
procedures and facility planning.
- Coordinate large and small construction or renovation projects,
including deferred maintenance projects, with architects and
contractors.
- Provide technical expertise regarding assigned functions;
formulate and develop policies and procedures to ensure BCA
facilities comply with state, community, and city laws and
regulations.
- Monitor the safety and cleanliness of the interior and exterior
areas such as offices, venues, the outdoor plaza space, and
Clarendon Street alley.
- Supervise and delegate projects and tasks to facilities staff
and other vendors, including the assignment of work and
follow-through on the completion of work, maintaining day-to-day
operations, routine inspection of common areas, scheduling of
special projects, coordinating event needs, performing preventive
maintenance work orders and scheduling these repairs.
- Manage seasonal grounds work, including raking, sweeping,
shoveling, and trimming.
- Negotiate contracts with service providers, inspecting
facilities to meet safety regulations, and coordinating renovations
and updates.
- Keep concise, accurate records for work performed and equipment
purchased for the property utilizing BOX, our cloud content
management system.
- Create reports on maintenance, repairs, safety, compliance, and
other occurrences for supervisors and related staff.
- Fulfill and coordinate emergency on-call responsibilities in
collaboration with BCA Maintenance Technician. Must have a current
valid driver's license and a reliable method of transportation to
respond to such emergencies.
- Maintain records of utility usage and investigate any
inconsistencies in usage. Make energy-saving recommendations.
- Maintain inventory of all maintenance equipment, tools, and
parts belonging to BCA.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Operations on budgeting
for facilities needs.
- Attend meetings and serve on teams as assigned.
- Provide technical support to BCA staff and contractors.
- Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSThe successful candidate
will possess most, if not all, of the following skills, experience,
and attributes:Knowledge and Experience
- 5+ years in a Facilities Management role, preferably working in
the non-profit sector and/or with historical buildings.
- Proven effectiveness as a staff manager, including knowledge of
professional development, performance appraisal, and equity,
diversity, and inclusion practices.
- Familiarity with construction practices and laws governing the
construction, maintenance, and repair of historic and public
buildings.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary for
regular contact with professional peers, staff, patrons,
contractors, and city officials.
- Experience working in a collaborative environment.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft
Office Suite, Google Suite, Zoom/Google Meet, and CAD
software.
- Experience creating, organizing, and executing comprehensive
facilities management plans.Personal Qualities

in outdoor and indoor work environments.JOB STRUCTURE AND
BENEFITS:This position reports to the Senior Director of
Operations. The salary range is $80,000 - $85,000/year. This
position is full-time, exempt. Occasional weekend and evening hours
will be required. Boston Center for the Arts offers a comprehensive
benefits package including 80% covered medical and dental
insurance, an FSA plan, short-term disability, and a 403(b)
retirement savings plan plus complimentary tickets to BCA and BCA
partner events and performances. This position will be expected to
