Job Description:
Position: Support Engineer 3 (Senior Chemist, Engineering
Support) Duties: Provides technical training and day-to-day real time
support to the Global Field Service organization and internal customer
technical support groups. Defines service requirements for new products as
part of the new product project team along with input on previous
product analysis based on our product experience. Coordinates and
provides technical input into the development, completion and
distribution of Service product introduction packages for new Waters products.
Evaluates and recommends special tools and test equipment and instructs
service personnel in utilizing tools and equipment. Provides technical
content into service procedures and technical service notes. Plans,
designs, implements, and evaluates service training programs.
Provides recommended product training packages to the Service
Training organization and may also provide technical class room
instruction. Provides on-site assistance to the Waters Global Field
Service organization as directed by a support manager. Tests and
evaluates customer instruments as required within the scope of Service
Support. Informs the Quality organization, Product Management and
Development groups about product related concerns raised by our Field
Operations. Monitors ongoing systemic product performance and reliability
and reports findings to the Quality operations. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field
(willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus five (5) years
of experience providing system level expert support to mass
spectrometers and LC systems, instrumentation, software, hardware and related
LCMS applications, including troubleshooting, repair, installation
and maintenance support. or, alternatively, a Master's degree and
three years of experience as stated above. Also requires
Demonstrated Expertise (DE) applying chemistry aspects and physical
principles of mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography as part of the
support process; DE monitoring the lifecycle of LC/MS products,
ensuring continuous improvement in product quality and efficiency of
service by providing input to the Product and Quality management; DE
resolving application issues for customers related to our LC/MS products
used for identification, quantitation, and analysis; DE utilizing and
operating LC/MS instrumentation and related acquisition and data
processing software and ensuring that related supporting documentation
meets the end user's needs; DE troubleshooting electronics, vacuum
technology, mechanical systems and related application software; DE using
electronic measurement equipment, electronic schematics, mechanical
drawings, computer hardware, communication hardware and software to
troubleshoot LCMS systems; DE leading cross-functional teams during new LC-MS
product launches; DE reviewing customer complaints for trends and
potential product improvements and applying analytical approaches, such as
Six Sigma; DE providing real-time remote support via telephone or
electronic tools such as webex or team viewer to onsite Field Engineers
around the world; and DE with various back office business systems such as
SAP, Trackwise (complaint handling), Lotus Notes dbases and Microsoft
